What is a Hospital Bed or A Patient Bed for Home Use?

A hospital bed is Known as a Patient Bed. It is specially designed for patients who are either at the hospital or at home under medical supervision.

These beds are made by keeping patients' comfort, well-being, and the convenience of healthcare workers in mind.

Some common features of hospital beds include the adjustable height for the whole bed, head and feet, adjustable side rails, and electronic buttons to operate the bed and other nearby electronic devices.

The hospital beds were not used only in the hospitals but in other healthcare facilities like home healthcare, nursing homes & in assisted living facilities.

There are so many different types of hospital beds. Different types of beds are used for different types of patients like their situations, conditions, and other purposes of treatments.

It could be confusing to select the right kind of hospital bed along with its functions. Let’s try to understand more about hospital beds and the function each one of them serves.

Types of Hospital or Patient Beds Available for Rental are.

1. Semi Fowler Bed:

A semi-fowler bed is a type of bed that facilitates or lifts the backrest section of the bed. To ensure patient safety these beds are equipped with easy-lifting side rails. The head and foot panels are made up of stainless steel or ABS.

To lift the backrest section, the mechanism used would be manually operated by a crank and an electric actuator system or a hydraulic gas spring.

The semi-fowler bed suits patients who have cardiac or respiratory conditions and need lung expansions to have a nasogastric tube.

It is helpful for women who are in labor pain during childbirth as it increases their comfort level.

2. Fowler Hospital or Patient Beds

Fowler Patient beds are ergonomically designed beds containing four sections of perforated beds and were utilized to attain the fowler’s position.

In the medical field, fowlers position is a standard position where the patient is in a sitting position and may have their knees bent or straight. Variations in the sitting position were denoted by the high fowler which is an upright position at the 90* angle.

A semi-fowler position sitting at 30-45 degrees and low fowler where only the head is slightly elevated.

Fowler beds are generally used for immobile patients who are in respiratory distress. This bed is also used by postpartum women who need uterine drainage, people who need nasal feeding tubes, and people with a risk of
